Non alloyed cold rolled steels, less than 3 mm thick, for forming by bending or moulding. They are suitable for treating with sub-sequent surface treatments such as painting, hot-dip galvanising, electrogalvanising, etc.
Main applications: Automotive sector, metal furniture, electrical household appliances, tubes and profiles, heating and ventilating equipment.

Cold rolled steel products with a high yield point

Steels with a high yield point for structural uses, suitable for all applications that require both high strength and the need to lighten the moulded products.
Specific for the production of reinforcing and structural parts, they also offer great weldability and freedom of choice of the coating used.
The specific chemical composition attained by adding micro-alloys guarantees a minimum yield strength and maintains good formability at the same time. Various resistance classes can be offered thanks to the inclusion of these elements. Protection. Steel is supplied with protective oil to prevent oxidation. High-strength steels with guaranteed minimum yield strength which offer excellent weldability and cold formability. There are various grades based on the end use within this range of steels; the number identifies the guaranteed minimum limit of the yield strength. Extraordinary mechanical properties and good drawing performance enable the realization of low-cost solutions for numerous parts or components which require reductions of weight, thickness and overall size yet need the resistance of the same parts or components to be unaltered. Some examples of applications are truck trailers, clamshell buckets, high capacity trucks, cranes, agricultural equipment, beams, welded tubes, profiles in general for scaffolding or shelving, containers, guide rails, streetlamps. Regularity in springback makes these steels suitable for automated mass production and facilitates assembly processes.

Aluzink coated steel
EN 10346
ALUZINK coated steel for structural use (EN 10215) and ALUZINK coated steel for forming and cold moulding (EN 10215).
Aluzink coated steels are generally supplied with a regular spangle.
A regular spangle is a finish of the coating which produces a metallic shine, the result of the natural development of aluminium-zinc crystals during the normal solidification process.
Corrosion resistance properties of both aluminium and zinc are utilized, that is: aluminium is long-lasting on the surface and zinc is a cathodic protection on the cut edges. Corrosion resistance: The aluminium/zinc alloy offers excellent resistance and is more effective than zinc in non-alkaline environments. It must not be used when there is contact with moist concrete and in environments in which pH is greater than 8: this type of situation can be found in places which shelter animals, barns. Zinc is a barrier against oxidising agents for steel, not only of the coated parts but also to uncoated areas (cut edges): zinc acts as an anode, steel acts as a cathode and moisture as an electrolyte; this way zinc guarantees “sacrificial” protection to uncoated steel. In industrial environments the corrosion rate of zinc is 25 microns of coating after 10 years, whereas for aluzink it is of 5 microns. Heat resistance. Aluzink can be continuously used at temperatures under 315°C without discolouration.

The hot-galvanised steel strips with the zinc-magnesium alloy coating, recently developed by Voestalpine Stahl, are characterised by high resistance to corrosion and excellent machining characteristics. Compared to traditional zinc coating, the zinc-magnesium coating provides a several times higher protection against corrosion. In this way, it is possible to apply a thinner layer of zinc magnesium to obtain a considerably long protection against corrosion. The use of zinc-magnesium allows the following reductions of the layer while maintaining at least the same period of protection against corrosion.
